Congrats Gus and Devin!
Big congrats to Armada team riders Gus Kenworthy and Devin Logan on earning the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) Overall World Title for the 2010-11 contest season.
Points were tallied all winter following each AFP-sanctioned Big Air, Halfpipe and Slopestyle event, and at the end of the season, the AFP counted each competitor’s top two finishes from each discipline to crown the world’s top overall male and female freeskier.
Kenworthy remained in the hunt for much of the year, but like any good race it came down to the wire in Whistler at the last AFP-sanctioned event: The World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF). After securing a bronze medal in the WSSF Slopestyle, an 11th place finish in the Big Air, and 12th place in the Halfpipe, the Telluride-native leapfrogged Simon Dumont and walked away as the overall world champion.
The Women’s race on the other hand wasn’t nearly as close, as Devin Logan largely controlled the title race from start to finish as one of the few female dual threats this winter.
Big congratulations to Gus and Devin from the whole Armada crew, we’re so stoked for you!
